Simon King must love these trail and hills races. He completed the Buttermere 20k race - well done

We’re starting this week’s parkrun roundup at

We’re starting this week’s parkrun roundup at Widnes where the fabulous Pam celebrated volunteering 500 times!! Pam volunteers most weekends on a Saturday and then on a Sunday at our junior parkrun, thank you Pam.
Paul travelled to Worsley Woods to help his friend Dennis complete his 500th parkrun, it’s obviously the weekend for 500th celebrations 🎉.
At Sutton Manor Christine was joined by her daughter Julia along with Widnes club mates Joan, Eve, Paula, Mark, Cathy, John, Penny, Claire and Neil, a fantastic turnout.
Mike increased his tourist streak to 26 events, got an I for his alphabet and scored a parkrun pb at Isabel Trail. Our newest club member Chris was at Marple, a gorgeous trail course and a first time visit to parkrun for his new baby.
Carl & Stacey ran at Huddersfield which saw over 700 runners complete 2.5 laps of Greenhead Park. At Wilmslow the 3 musketeers and dogtanian John, Paul, Chris and Max ran in a gorgeous, part wooded setting and described the course as being like a pirate ship.
Jan & Paul travelled up to Cumbria to ran an undulating course at Barrow and found a great spot for their camper van.
In Wales Liz, Colin and Katie ran along a nippy seafront at Nova Prestatyn. Somewhat warmer, Tania enjoyed a very undulating, pretty trail run in glorious sunshine at Parke parkrun. Last, but not least, Jon and friends ran a tough route at Tawd Valley.
We also had runners at Bath Skyline, East Park, Fell Foot, Hackworth, Heartlands, Long Eaton, Northwich, Phoenix, Princes, St Helens and Warrington.
Well done to everyone who ran or volunteered today.

Saturday - nothing to report. Was there something happening at the Widnes ParkRun?

Sunday - the BTR Liverpool Half Marathon was extremely well attended by the following club mates:

Lots of club mates posted good times and or PB’s.
Others were sandwiching the half marathon in between runs to do a marathon training long run - Phew well done.
Tracey Meharg & Quiet Karl Fahey were both official pacers - well done this is such a kind thing to do.

Captain Carl Barnes and Danny Byrne both excelled at the Pulford 10K. Well done to two fabulous athletes x

This week’s parkrun roundup is brought to you from the M6 (don’t worry I’m not driving!)
On a lovely spring day we had nearly 70 runners at 14 different venues.
Greg was down under where he got a parkrun pb and a shoutout for Widnes Running Club at Parkville in beautiful Melbourne. Ali found a parkrun in a vineyard at Mole Valley. She enjoyed the wine and the scenery but the ‘mountain’ in the first 2 miles was a challenge.
Rachel was at Poznan parkrun in Poland where she had to run in between 2 World War II tanks. Jon & Dani were in The Lake District and did their most beautiful parkrun so far, at Keswick.
Tracy ran Roberts Park parkrun in Bradford where she completed the namely challenge. Matt completed a ‘gentle’ buggy run at Northwich.
John & Zoe had a lovely little amble around the wooded paths of Fletcher Moss parkrun. Over in Wales Colette & Dave enjoyed a lovely but very warm run at Nova Prestatyn.
We also had runners at Bath Skyline, Clarence, Croxteth Hall, Heartlands and Warrington.
Lastly a special mention for the fantastic turnout of runners and volunteers at Widnes parkrun for our couch to 5k graduation. A separate post is on its way!

Saturday - Chairman Paul Busow, not so mad Max, Rob Lloyd and Olive all ran the Brynkinalt Running Festival Canicross 10K (the title took longer to write than for Max n’ Olive to run the race)! Max hauled Paul to second place - well done to the dogs and the humanoids x

Also on Saturday - No I’m not shi**ing you ! Two very brave and dedicated club mates completed the gruelling Chester 50 miler. Both Adam Hampson and Ryan Black personified grit and determination to succeed at this event - WOW X

Sunday - Merry Mark Worthington, Penny (the UUG Queen)Worthington and Nisha (our friend in the north) Parmar all excelled at the Wigan Half Marathon. I hope they all enjoyed pie n peas after all that effort.

Jan (the powerhouse) Swales zipped around Barcelona Marathon in just over 4.5 hours. Well Done Jan you’re amazing, are you running home?

Here we go with this weeks parkrun roundup! We had nearly 70 runners at 20 venues and here’s where they got to, not in alphabetical order for a change.
Jonathan ran up and down the hills at Sutton Manor, completing his 25th parkrun. Matt ran just over 2 laps of the grounds of Belton House in Lincolnshire. The trio of Carl, Stacey and Rachel completed an undulating 2 lapper at Middleton Woods.
As usual we had a large turnout at Widnes and this week we’ve managed to get pictures of Rob & Amy along with Karl who ran a pb!
John and Kathy were in Lancaster which was lovely but tough with hardly any flat bits. Simon was paying his 1st visit to Heaton Park which had a nice coffee shop and some giant swans.
Connor, Libby, Nisha and Alex all ran really well at Burnage. Neil, Paula and Eve were closer to home under the blue skies of Warrington.
Tania was down south at Torbay Velopark which had a nice loopy start and a 2nd half on grass. Simon, Katie, Tracy, Colin & Grace went to Greenfield Valley in Wales where they ran then ate pastries as big as their heads. Ali chased, but couldn’t quite catch, the 32 minute pacer at Hove Promenade but it’s still her favourite parkrun.
Jan and Paul met up with a friend at Peel. Colette, Dave and Georgia took in Princes parkrun as part of a long run while Jon was at a very sunny Knowsley.
John, Andy, Chris and Shelby the dog complete our photos and they all ran at Kew Woods.
We also had club members at Heartlands, Pennington Flash, Phoenix, Rothay Park and St Helens.
Well done to everyone who ran or volunteered today.

High Leigh 10k - Fresh off of running strong at the St Helens 10k Greg Stephens ran well again today. Greg is knocking on the door of a sub 45 min 10k. When questioned Greg replied “it’s all down to running with the run buddies and trying to keep up with Christine Bonnar mate!”.
Molly Burke also ran strongly.

Running the ever popular and much loved Trimpell 20 miler were Amy Bird, The Real Colette Handley, Captain Carl Barnes, Chris Giblin, Rob Ladanowski, Paul (Max’s Dad) Busow, Dave (the Ketchup King) Handley, Danny Lloyd, Colin Kennedy and Claire Skea. A tough race hopefully not made more difficult by the temperature

Colwyn Bay 5m, 10m & 20 milers - Connor Dyas, Danny Garner, Danny Byrne, Steph (prize winning) Humphries, Sue (The Cookies & 1st in her age category) O’Brien, Emma Wilson, Phil Janvier, Joan Wood, Joanne Graham, Katie Dean, Sameera Westcott, Josh Stanley, Julie Reed, Alex Wood and Sophie Louise all enjoyed their day by the seaside x

Haworth Hobble 32 mile fell race - Rob Lloyd. Only Rob could do this race, well done Sir x

Nottingham 10k - Harry and Dawn Hignett. Great running by Mum n’ Son at this beautiful race although the last 400m is being heavily criticised by Mum x

Chester 10k - both Emma Buckley and Sandra Bentley faired well here x

This week’s parkruns saw nearly 60 club members

This week’s parkruns saw nearly 60 club members running at 19 different venues from the north west down to the south coast.
Ben was at Blackhill where he ran 3 1/2 very hilly laps that apparently made our local Sutton Manor look easy! Colette, David and Georgia travelled to Lancashire and ran at Burnley parkrun.

Tracy, Colin & Liz were in Wales and completed a sunny and very picturesque out and back course at Conwy. Running on the beach and rubbing shoulders with the iron men were Katie & Simon who were at Crosby.

Neil, Paula & Eve were happy to see the course had gone back to a loop round the lake at beautiful Delamere. Laura, Sarah & Gill said it was sunny but very muddy at Ellesmere Port.

Carl & Stacey soaked up the sun on a lovely out and back course along the prom at Fleetwood where Carl ran his fastest parkrun for 2 years.

Mike completed a real mudfest at Henley Wood, Oswestry and got his H for the alphabet challenge, west for the compass challenge and extended his tourist streak to 23. Jan ran a 5 lap course which seemed to last forever at Heslington.

At Peel Liam ran his fastest parkrun since a return from injury. Adam, Michael, Mark G, Mark W & Penny went over the bridge to Phoenix where club mate Neil was volunteering. Ali was visiting Poole and had a lovely run round a lake with over 900 other parkrunners.

Matt got his Q for the alphabet at Quakers Walk and now needs just 2 letters to complete the challenge. Dawn & Harry completed a beautiful, busy parkrun at Rushcliffe which had an impressive snakey queuing system for finish tokens.

Christine & Carolyn conquered the hills at Sutton Manor and were rewarded with cakes at the finish. Tania and her dog Tilly were on the south coast at Teignmouth Promenade where Tilly got to play in the waves and Tania enjoyed a big fat brekkie.

As always we had lots of runners and volunteers at Widnes parkrun and we also had club members at Bath Skyline, Crewe & Croxteth Hall. Well done to all of them!

Karl Fahey performed well but did burn out using lots of energy at the start of the race x
Hot footing it back from Las Vegas and managing to peel 3 oranges in her pocket throughout the race was Steph Savage x

Well done to all our fabulous runners many of whom ran to the St Helens 10k, did the race then ran back as a part of marathon training PHEW X

This week’s parkrun roundup starts with Colette

This week’s parkrun roundup starts with Colette and David who took a quick trip up to Blackpool.

Ali ran Croxteth Park, she looks a bit cold but warmed up with a nice breakfast afterwards. Greg was in Wales at Greenfield Valley where he achieved his highest ever finish position finishing in 6th place.

Andy was also in Wales and ran at Nant y Pandy on Anglesey which was fairly quiet and had a rolling river, superb woodlands, a reservoir and even a dam!

Neil, Paula & Eve tackled the hills at Phoenix in Runcorn on a beautiful spring like morning. Mark was there as well but didn’t make the photo. Jon was also close to home at a very, very busy Warrington.

Paul & Max, Chris, John, Katie and Simon ran the trails and pathways of Worden where John reached his 50th venue across 5 countries.

Matt achieved a course PB on his 1st visit to Worsley Woods for a while. And we had a big group at Y Promenad in Barmouth; Paul, Jan, Rob, Hayley, Colin, Tania, Tracy and Liz all travelled to mid Wales where Jan completed her 250th parkrun and Jan & Paul completed their 2nd alphabet.

A great weekend for our members who were also at Alderley Park, Bath Skyline, Forest Rec, Knowsley, Markshall Estate, Northwich, Sutton Manor and Widnes.

Saturday - Ryan (the man in) Black excelled (50th place out of over 400 runners) at the Dirty Dozen 8 Mile XC race. Not content with wading through mud Ryan ran chest deep through a water hazard ! This saves having a shower after the race I suppose x
Also on Saturday Simon (The Lion) King took on and succeeded at the Croxteth Park Winter Warmer Half Marathon. Simon ran strongly and got a PB
Sunday - Matt Shelter bagged a PB in the London Winter 10k. Great work Matt
Also on Sunday our resident flyer Shaun Knight finished a marathon almost before it began.
2:34:21 !!!

Lots of locations for our club members this week w

Lots of locations for our club members this week with over 50 runners at 20 different venues.

Roy and Lyn were in Wales and sent us a ‘Good Morning’ from Conwy. Nearer to home Mark, Danny, Jordan and Greg had a lovely run at Knowsley and all finished in the top 20!

Jan & Paul travelled to Muncaster Castle where they ran a 3 lapper at the only parkrun in the world run round an inhabited castle. Another 3 lapper at Oldham for Alex which was in a very pleasant park with some hills and a nice long downhill section.

Over in Scunthorpe Stacey said it was a tough run but husband Carl ran a season’s best time. David, Colette, Penny, Mark & Georgia ran at St Helens and just along the road Ed took on a ‘cheeky little route’ at Sutton Manor.

Mike extended his tourist streak to 21 and got a V for the alphabet challenge at the very hilly but lovely Vicar Water Country Park. Also getting a V was Matt who got a free cable car ride across the Thames at Victoria Dock.

At Warrington we had Josh, Joan, Rob and his dog Olive, Colin and Alex. Chris, Paul & super dog Max ran a muddy but enjoyable Worsley Woods and Simon had a nice flat run round the racecourse at York.

We also had runners at Bath Skyline, Delamere, Greenfield Valley, Greenwich, Phoenix, University Parks, Wollaton Hall and, of course, Widnes.

Saturday - Adam Hampson and Rob Lloyd bossed the hills at the Parbold Hill Race. 6.75 multi terrain miles In challenging conditions.

Sunday was a very busy day for WRC.
The 1st Prestwich Canicross time trial was completed by our resident lovelies and Valentines Max and Olive. Their minders wotsit and dooberry (which one’s which?) were also there x

The Chilly Blackpool Half Marathon saw our David Jones excel in his first race wearing club colours. Paul (Mari) Wilson smashed not only the sound barrier but also the 2 hour half marathon barrier - Great Work Paul.

Young Colette Handley and “Gorgeous” George Lewis took on the Wrexham Half, along with Carl Barnes, Danny (feel the) Byrne, David (not young) Handley, Darren Sankey and Tim Browning.

It’s parkrun roundup time and this week we had over 50 runners at 18 different venues.

Roy and Tracy (& friends) sent us a ‘Good Morning’ from Burnage. Fran went back to where it all began for him, Darndale, where he got a first place finish!

Mike ticked off a few achievements at Greenfield Valley - he got his tourist streak up to 20, got a G for the alphabet and got a new country flag (Wales). Amy got a J for her alphabet at Jersey Farm and now has just 3 letters to go.

Jon (and friends) said it wasn’t sunny and warm at nearby Knowsley. Tim and his son were at Pennington Flash which looks a bit muddy.

They’re not all on the picture but Mark, Michael, Josh, Keith, Christine, Dawn, Joan, Sarah and Gill took on the hills of Sutton Manor.

Chris had a wild & windy run up and down the prom at Y Promenad, Abermaw. Jan and Paul bagged a second Z over at Zegerplas then went into Gouda to explore and eat cheese 🧀.

As always we had lots of runners and volunteers at Widnes and this week we’ve found a picture of Rob.

We also had runners at Alexandra, Bolton, Chadderton Hall, Heartlands, Henley Wood, Markshall Estate, Northwich and St Helens.
