Testimonials

Driving past runners I always thought to myself “I wish I could do that”
I followed WRC facebook group for years before taking the plunge to do Couch to 5k
I am now regularly running and entering races.
All because of the support of this amazing club.
Running definitely doesn’t come naturally to me, but being part of this community pushes me and motivates me to keep at it, I love the freedom of getting out there putting the world to rights, be it chatting to fellow runners or just with my own thoughts.
Thank you WRC

I used to run for another club years ago and absolutely loved it, stopped because work was getting in the way, losing fitness easily and just couldn’t find the motivation to keep restarting. So went into fat mode for around 20 years and found change of job gave me time to give it another crack. Best decision I ever made it’s made me feel a lot healthier reversed certain things like diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and also great for a healthy mind. The people I have met at the club are great too and there is nothing better than the buzz of a race day or the joy of crossing the finish line. Joining WRC is the best decision I have ever made for my well being.

I joined the club a few years ago to mix up my own training and to help improve my fitness and speed work. There is a great wealth of experience and supportive members which have turned out to become great friends of mine too. What a fantastic teal bunch they all are

New to running in 2018, I noticed Widnes RC runners at parkrun – they seemed a friendly bunch so I took the plunge and joined.
Fast forward 8 years and my running has come on leaps and bounds, I’ve conquered distances and hit times I never thought possible, and I’ve made friends for life at this fabulous club.
Everyone is super supportive, no matter your level or experience, there’s a great mixture of sessions and competitions to get your teeth into, and there’s a healthy culture at the club of self-improvement mixed with having fun.
If you want to improve and enjoy your running in a safe and supportive environment, whether you’re an ultra runner or just starting your running journey, this club will welcome you with open arms and cheer your achievements, whatever they may be

I joined the club about 6 years ago after taking a leaflet after the Widnes Parkrun the club was handing out 5K to 5miles . I’ve never looked back . I’ve made so many friends to run with since joining . The club members are always there to help encourage and support you on club training nights and if you want to do races . Whether you’re already a runner or new to running everyone is made welcome

I used to run on my own after completing a C25K in 2019. I have been a member of the club now for 3 years and the club has completely changed my experience. Not only has it helped me stay consistent and improve, but also I’ve made great friends along the way. It’s made running something I truly look forward to each week.

I joined WRC at the start of 2026 and have been hugely impressed by the turnout on runs, the organisation and range of runs that are made available. There is literally something for everybody. The people are very welcoming and clearly passionate about their running. Very happy I joined

Being part of Widnes Running Club has given me the opportunity to really progress with my running, thanks to the variety of sessions available to suit all abilities and goals. It’s an inclusive and friendly club where runners are supported, and being part of it has also helped me build new friendships with like-minded people who share the same passion for running.

In August 2024, I joined Widnes Running Club and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made. From the very first session, I received a warm welcome and have since made some great friends. The club’s Champs competitions are a brilliant way to explore local races, support neighbouring clubs, and enjoy some friendly competition.
Being part of the club has helped me stay consistent, continue improving my fitness, and maintain a healthier lifestyle. Running is once again a key part of my life, and I genuinely look forward to every training night and event with such a supportive and inspiring group.
