Weekly Training Sessions

The club holds regular training sessions every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings which all start at 6.30pm. There is no ask to wear specific club kit at these sessions, although between October and March you are strongly advised to wear hi-vis colours. The sessions on Tuesday and Thursday are held in a variety of locations that are updated each week in the WhatsApp Channel, as well as the members-only area of the website. If you feel nervous about coming to any session for the first time contact the club’s main email address and we can offer support and ensure the run leader knows you are coming and can be there to meet you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to wear club kit when I run?

Club kit doesn’t have to be worn on a club training session, although we’ll occasionally have “club vest nights” where we’ll look to turn the town teal. Club kit would need to be worn if you’re wanting your results to contribute towards the Club Championships or if you are competing in the cross country league.

How will I know what pace group to run with?

If you’re unsure what pace you’re able to maintain for up to an hour, give us your approximate time for running a parkrun (or any 5k) and we will allocate you to the group we think best.

Do I have to run with the same pace group every week?

No, you can decide on a weekly basis. It’s important that you stick to the pace range of that chosen group on a Thursday night so that the group can stay together. If you’re finding your group too easy, then move to the faster group the following week. Similarly, if you’re struggling to keep up, or you know you want to take it easy on a particular night, move down to the slower group.

Do I have to come to every session?

No, you can come to as many or few as suits you and your needs.

Do you have weekend training sessions?

We don’t run club training sessions at weekends but lots of members organise their own runs in small groups. These would generally be posted on the Facebook page by individual members.

How do I find out about races to enter?

Many members will post links to specific races on the Members Facebook page and we often find a group of members will enter these. There are also many race websites you can use to find local, national and international races.

Where can I find club documents?

Club documents, such as our constitution and our code of conduct, can be obtained from the Member Resources section of our website, available from the bottom of the home page.
