Club Standards

Club STANDARDS

The 7 recognised race distances that qualify for Club Standards are: Full Marathon, 20 Miles, Half Marathon, 10 Miles, 10K, 5 Miles and 5K.

Club standards are race times for set distances which are based on on the World Standard Times published by the WAVA (World Association of Veteran Athletes). They are gender and age specific and consist of WORLD, PLATINUM, GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE, TEAL and WHITE Levels.

Under 35 World times are based on actual world records, other age categories world times are then increased based on pre-determined multipliers. Levels for each distance and age category are increased from the world times as follows:

Platinum = World + 20%
Gold = World + 35%
Silver = World + 50%
Bronze = World + 65%
Teal = World + 85%
White = World + 100%

Standards allow each individual runner to see what Standard Level they are at based on their particular age group/gender and allow you to aspire to achieve the next level.

If the runner finds they continue to improve, they would then set their sights higher at the next level within that age bracket. When a runner changes age category, the challenge then becomes achieving new times and Standards within it, hopefully matching or exceeding the levels achieved in previous age categories.
